The Biology Department at St. Lawrence University invites applications for an Academic Support position starting in Fall 2021 as a General Biology Specialist-Assistant Course Coordinator. The academic support person will join a team of faculty and staff in implementing a dynamic, inquiry-based sequence of courses for both major and non-major students. Primary duties will include teaching two laboratory sections each semester, attending all lectures, participating in a weekly team meeting, participating in a weekly teaching assistant training session, and assisting with course grading. The support person will be responsible for maintaining lab cleanliness and for set up and break down of weekly labs with assistance from student TAs. Additional duties include ordering supplies, maintaining live cultures, making and disposing of reagents, maintenance of lab instrumentation, management of lab budget, training of lab prep TAs, testing lab exercises, and creation of weekly lab lesson plans.

Requiring approximately 40 hours per week, this position requires excellent organizational skills, computer skills, research and data analysis skills, and attention to detail. The candidate also needs excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills to work with undergraduates, a departmental technician, and a team of instructors. A Master’s Degree (or equivalent course work) in Biology or a related sub-discipline is required. Teaching experience is preferred.
