Musculoskeletal Tissue Engineering Faculty Position

The Carl J. Shapiro Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) and Harvard Medical School (HMS) invites applicants for a position at the Assistant Professor level as part of a focused effort to further strengthen key research areas. The anticipated start date is September 2021.Current strengths of the department lie in biomechanics, imaging, in silico and translational research. We seek applicants whose research complements our current strengths in musculoskeletal research. We especially encourage applicants whose expertise is in cells, tissues and systems related to experimental or computational approaches in musculoskeletal health. Moreover, we seek applicants with strong emphasis on translational research, complementing the department’s newly established Musculoskeletal Translational Innovation Initiative. We seek individuals who embrace opportunities to work collaboratively within the department as well as across the Medical School and sister institutions. The successful candidate is expected to develop and maintain an active, highly visible research program and to demonstrate excellence in mentoring undergraduate and graduate students and fellows.

Candidates should possess an earned doctorate in biomedical engineering or a closely related discipline.
