Staff Scientist - Diagnostic Radiology

Position Summary
We are seeking to fill a Staff Scientist position at the Beckman Research Institute of City of Hope, in the laboratory of Dr. Ammar Chaudhry, MD. Along with his research collaborators at City of Hope, Dr. Chaudhry's primary research is geared toward the development of clinically relevant imaging biomarkers and radiotherapeutics agents. In concert with the Principal Investigator (PI), the successful applicant will support significant research contributions to established institutional clinical and basic research activities and, accordingly, be able to design, execute, evaluate and present the results of experiments.

Key Responsibilities include:
  • Devise, plan, document and advance basic science and translational projects in the relevant research area.
  • Generate data for grant applications and prepare manuscripts for publication.
  • Work in close collaboration with other team members and external collaborators, including presentation of progress internally or externally.
  • Train and supervise PhD candidates, post-doctoral fellows, and technical staff.
  • Ensure compliance with Radiation Safety Committee (RSC) and other institutional safety committees i.e. IACUC
  • Stay abreast with scientific literature such as biomedical imaging and research radiopharmaceuticals.


Qualifications
Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:
  • Ph.D., Pharm.D., or M.D/Ph.D. degree in Life Sciences or related discipline with a background within preclinical and clinical pharmacokinetic studies


Preferred education experience and skills:
  • Flow cytometry
  • Animal models and techniques
  • Knowledge of PET/SPECT/MRI and imaging-based analysis software
  • Experience in handling radioactive material
  • Strong interpersonal, documentation, and organizational skills
