Job Description:

If this describes you, you may be the right candidate for the Post-Doctoral Research Fellow position with the Department of Surgery.

Position Highlights:

We are seeking a creative and a self-motivated post-doctoral fellow to join a multi- disciplinary laboratory at Rush University in the Department of Surgery. The fellow will work on research geared toward understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying wound healing, fibrotic wound healing (e.g. scarring, keloids), and bone regeneration. The fellow will determine drivers of innate and adaptive immune responses as well as fibroblast's and myofibroblast's functions in normal, regenerative, and fibrotic tissue and/or bone repair. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Plans and directs research project in the area of wound healing and bone regeneration.

  • Identifies an original research project, experiments, and potential research directions related to research activities; collects, evaluates, interprets and provides documentation of research data to accomplish research objectives.

  • Provides own data collection, preparation of manuscripts, and research papers for presentation and/or publications.

  • Ensures compliance with governmental and University policies, procedures, rules and regulations

  • Performs other job related assignments as assigned

  • May also be required to supervise research employees and/or nonexempt staff.

 

Required Position Qualifications:

  • Earned, prior to hiring, PhD or MD

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to successfully interact with a diverse team, including clinicians, IT staff, and scientist across domains

  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated, efficient.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Ability to organize and perform work on several concurrent research projects.

 

Preferred Position Qualifications:

  • Strong communication, data analysis, computer and organizational skills.

  • Willingness to conduct animal research.

  • First-authored publication records

  • Flow cytometry experience.

  • Background in bone, osteogenesis, and/or wound healing
