The Research Investigator position applies technical expertise and experience to coordinate, design and carry out research projects.

KEY FUNCTIONS

Perform DNA/RNA Extraction & QC, Sample Aliquoting, and Sonication

Independently perform all aspects of the Nucleic Acid Extraction and QC

NGS Wet Bench Experiments

Independently perform all aspects of NGS wet bench experiments:

Library Prep & QC & Hybridization/Capture/pooling QC

Equipment Maintenance

Perform scheduled and as needed equipment maintenance

Lab Inventory Monitoring & Safety

Monitor and anticipate laboratory inventory in terms of equipment and supplies

Responsible for overall laboratory safety to pass yearly laboratory safety inspection by MDACC Environmental Health and Safety.

EDUCATION

Required: Bachelor's degree in one of the natural sciences or related field.

EXPERIENCE

Required: Five years of experience in scientific or experimental research work. With preferred degree, three years of required experience.

Preferred: Next generation sequencing (NGS) experience.
