The Center for Global Health and Diseases (CGHD) and Department of Pathology at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) is recruiting new faculty to expand its research portfolio at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor level. Applications are encouraged from candidates with basic science and clinical research programs in any area of immunity and pathogenesis of infectious disease of global health significance. These positions will be supported by substantial start-up packages. The CGHD has research programs in adult and pediatric infectious disease, including malaria, schistosomiasis, filariasis and onchocerciasis, SARS-CoV2, HIV, and mosquito-borne viral diseases through international partnerships in Africa, Asia, Europe, and Latin America. The CGHD and Pathology together support research from basic immunology to international clinical trials, an Immunology Training Program, and NIH training grants in both immunology and global health/infectious diseases. Annual research funding in immunology and infectious diseases exceeds $100M across CWRU and affiliates, and the Pathology Department is ranked in the top 10 for NIH funding. Other institutional strengths include the CWRU Center for AIDS Research, the Tuberculosis Research Unit, the Division of Infectious Diseases and HIV Medicine and the Department of Molecular Biology and Microbiology. CWRU is located in Cleveland Ohio, a central Midwestern hub for art, culture, and sports that boasts a low cost of living and outstanding schools making it ideal for family life. This also includes a famous orchestra, museums, sports teams, extensive hiking and outdoor activities, the shores of Lake Erie, and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The CWRU campus is located in the heart of Cleveland and is within a 10-minute walk or drive of 4 nationally and internationally renowned medical centers: University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, Cleveland Clinic, MetroHealth Medical Center and Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center. Candidates at the Assistant Professor level should have a demonstrated record of success in multiple venues with substantial potential to obtain external funding. Candidates at the Associate or Full Professor levels should have robust and active research programs and demonstrable national or international reputations, respectively. Associate and Full Professor candidates should also have a history of mentorship and leadership.
