Postdoctoral Research Fellow - Molecular Mechanisms driving Neuroinflammation
A post-doctoral fellow position is immediately available in Dr. Eric Mullins’s laboratory in the Division of Hematology at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. Dr. Mullins’s NIH- funded laboratory is focused on understanding the interactions of the hemostatic system with immunity. We use genetically modified animals, in combination with in vitro studies, to elaborate the crosstalk between immunity and coagulation. The fellow would be involved in the investigations on plasmin-mediated lysis of fibrin matrices on macrophage migration and blood-brain barrier leakage. The fellow will focus on determination of the molecular interactions driving the early events in neuroinflammation. Experience with animal research and a background in molecular biology is needed in applicants. Previous experience with microscopy and image analysis is preferred.
Requirements: A Ph.D. in a related discipline, M.D., or equivalent degree is required
Preferred: The ideal candidate would have a Ph.D. in immunobiology, molecular biology, or neuroscience.
Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC) is a premier pediatric research institution with over 900 diverse and productive faculty members. Here, researchers work collaboratively across specialties and divisions to address some of the biggest challenges we face today in improving child health. A strong network of research support services and facilities, along with institutional commitment to research, push our team of faculty, postdocs and support staff to explore the boundaries of what is possible, leading to significant breakthroughs. We are driven by our mission to improve child health and transform the delivery of care through fully integrated, globally recognized research, education and innovation. CCHMC’s research mission is aided by a $3 billion endowment, which subsidizes state-of-the-art core facilities with career technicians for marrow transplant, single cell processing, flow cytometry, computational biology, etc. The training environment is especially rich for hematology/oncology research because of a robust and interactive research community.
