A postdoctoral research position is available immediately in the Hughson lab in the Department of Molecular Biology at Princeton University. We focus on the remarkable protein machinery that generates the interior architecture of eukaryotic cells by guiding the formation, movement, and fusion of intracellular transport vesicles. Our recent studies of membrane fusion proteins called SNAREs, and the large membrane tethering complexes with which they collaborate, have opened up new and exciting project possibilities. All of them combine structural (cryoEM and/or X-ray crystallography) and functional/mechanistic approaches.

We seek a creative, motivated scientist to join our team. We welcome applications from individuals interested in conducting their postdoctoral work in a collegial, interactive environment. Although the initial appointment is for one year, it is expected that this appointment will be renewed provided that performance is satisfactory and funding is available. Applicants should apply online and submit a CV, a cover letter describing research interests, and contact information for three references (including current PI). Applications will be reviewed promptly until the position is filled. This position is subject to the University's background check policy.

Essential Qualifications: A Ph.D. in a related field is required. Scientists whose degree is pending or who recently completed their PhDs are encouraged to apply. Applicants should have excellent academic track records (including publications in peer-reviewed journals), demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills, and have the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in biochemistry and/or structural biology will be a plus.

Princeton University is an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
