Position available in the Department of Experiment Radiation Oncology to work on translational cancer research projects in breast cancer. Will work with other lab members on these projects including graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and research staff members.
Job functions:
Assists principal investigator with scientific research projects. Determines specific goals or objectives to be obtained, evaluates research data, develops and revises techniques.
Responsibilities:
Maintain patient-derived xenograft animal models
Administration of drug therapies by oral gavage and/or intraperitoneal injection
Perform mouse necropsy
Process tissue for histology, DNA/RNA isolation and protein isolation
Molecular analytical techniques for gene and protein expression ( PCR, RT-PCR, western, northern and Southern blot analysis.)
Perform genotyping in mouse lines in a timely manner and assist in various lab experiments
Perform cell-based experiments including Flow Cytometry and Luminex based labeling
Process clinical blood samples for chemokine/cytokine analysis
Process human sample (blood and saliva)
Perform immunohistochemistry staining on mouse and human tumor tissues.
Management of lab mouse colony
Maintain human cell line in vitro cultures
Other duties as assigned
Education
Required: Bachelor's degree in one of the natural sciences or related field.
Experience
Required: Three years of experience in scientific or experimental research work. With preferred degree, one year of required experience
Preferred: 6-7 years of experience in scientific or experimental research work with a Bachelor's degree. 4-5 years of experience required with the preferred degree. Previous experience in rodent handling and maintenance.
