Postdoctoral Position in Bacterial and Microbiome Metabolism of Iron

We are seeking a postdoctoral scholar to work on a project funded by the National Institutes of Health, aiming at understanding how bacterial metabolic processes contribute to iron metabolism in bacteria and bacterial consortia relevant to the GI tract, and how these processes influence host health.

We are taking combined molecular, enzymatic, culture-based, and in vivo/mouse approaches to answering these questions. Projects can incorporate a range of experimental (cellular and molecular), informatics, and biophysical approaches, based on the applicant's interests and background. Applicants should be recent Ph.D.s or graduate students within a year of completing their dissertations who have a strong publication record and knowledge and skills related to one or more of the following: protein biochemistry, metallobiochemistry, bioinformatics, bacteriology, and molecular/cell biology. The new postdoc will have the opportunity to gain mastery in any of these fields in the PI's and collaborators' labs. He/she will receive mentoring leading to the submission of postdoctoral fellowships, presentation at national and international meetings, preparation of high quality manuscripts, and development of a robust scientific dossier.

Montana State University is a research-intensive, flagship institution located in the beautiful mountain west, close to skiing, national forests, and national parks. The university provides a supportive and welcoming environment for diverse applicants from all walks of life.

Interested applicants must be currently eligible to work in the US and to relocate to Montana. Applicants should please send a CV and list of references to jennifer.dubois1@montana.edu.
