The Deputy Director, NIGMS, works closely with the Director to provide a national focus for the Federal effort to advance knowledge and understanding of mechanisms aimed at discovering how fundamental research can be used to promote healthier lives.
We are looking for applicants with a commitment to scientific excellence and the energy, enthusiasm, and innovative thinking necessary to lead within a dynamic and diverse organization. Applicants must possess an M.D. and/or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant discipline and senior-level scientific experience and outstanding scientific knowledge of research programs in scientific areas related to cell biology, biophysics, genetics, developmental biology, pharmacology, physiology, biological chemistry, biomedical technology, bioinformatics, and/or computational biology. The successful candidate for this position will be appointed at a salary commensurate with experience and accomplishments, and full Federal benefits, including leave, health and life insurance, retirement and savings plan (401K equivalent) will be provided. A recruitment or relocation bonus may be available, and relocation expenses may be paid.
