The Yan Lab in the Department of Applied Physical Sciences at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a postdoctoral scholar. The lab is equipped with the state-of-the-art facilities for optical microscopy and spectroscopy, including advanced holographic optical tweezers for nanoparticle trapping and manipulation. The new postdoctoral scholar is expected to use these facilities and further develop new techniques to address fundamental challenges in nanophotonics, optical physics, and biology.

The candidate should have a Ph.D. degree in Physics, chemistry, electrical engineering, or other related subjects, conferred within the last three years or to be conferred shortly. We are especially interested in candidates with research experiences in at least one of these fields: optical instrumentation, optical tweezers, ultrafast laser spectroscopy, fluorescence and Raman spectroscopy, super-resolution microscopy, and plasmonics. The successful candidate would have a strong publication record and good writing skills. The position is for one year with possible renewals for the second and third year.
