The Department of Oncological Sciences and Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI) invite applications for tenure-track faculty positions at the assistant or associate/full professor level. We seek junior and senior investigators (for tenure-track appointments) in the area of Cancer Predisposition Genetics with innovative laboratory-based cancer research programs that emphasize mechanistic insight and approaches. We are particularly interested in investigators whose research programs include cancer susceptibility gene identification and analysis to basic mechanisms through which germline sequence variants elicit tumor initiation or progression. Studies related to integration between germline genotypes, somatic cell mutations, and expression profiles or other genomics analyses towards tumor prevention, interception, or improved treatment are also of interest.

Huntsman Cancer Institute at the University of Utah Health Sciences Center is an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center and a member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), supporting and fostering a vibrant research enterprise in a highly collegial environment. HCI and the Department of Oncological Sciences (which is housed within HCI) has a strong history of academic achievement and impact, and a commitment to excellence in research, teaching and service. HCI has undergone a recent physical expansion which includes a new research building, and we seek tenure-track faculty at all faculty ranks, and in many areas of cancer research. Candidates will have joint appointments in the tenure track in the Department of Oncological Sciences (within the University of Utah School of Medicine), and also as Lab Investigators within Huntsman Cancer Institute.

HCI leadership has made a strategic commitment to develop Disease Centers as a mechanism to enhance translational research. Disease Centers specialize in adult and pediatric cancer research in the following areas: Gastrointestinal, Genitourinary, Head and Neck, Hematological Malignancies, Lung, Melanoma, Neurologic, Sarcoma, Women’s cancers, and Supportive Oncology and Survivorship. Candidates whose cancer research interests are aligned with these HCI Disease Centers are strongly encouraged to apply.

HCI and the University Health Sciences Center provide access to state-of-the-art equipment and services through exceptional Core Facilities (see www.cores.utah.edu) that enhance both discovery and translational science. HCI also offers state-of-the-art laboratories, including a new 225,000 sq. ft. research building (in 2017) which doubles its research space.  The University of Utah offers robust graduate programs for training PhD and MD/PhD students.
