The Functional Cell Sciences group within the SIBs Core Technologies team is seeking a candidate who can integrate biotechnology with plant breeding to support our ongoing discovery research efforts.

Our group boldly innovates to create strategically-aligned solutions for next-generation plant breeding technologies, specifically by translating genomic knowledge into novel breeding applications. Strong molecular biology and biochemistry skills including PCR methods, cloning expertise, gene editing expertise, co-immunoprecipitation, yeast two hybrid screening, and plant transformation expertise are required. Ability to perform aspects of plant tissue culture methods will be required. Use of sequence analysis software and bioinformatics tools will be required. Experience with genomics, proteomics, and or epigenomic profiling is highly favorable. Experience with gene network analysis and or the regulation of gene network pathways is highly favorable. Microscopy expertise is favorable.

  • keep detailed and organized records of experimental protocols and results
  • analyze results, troubleshoot technical difficulties, and implement solutions
  • adhere to environmental health and safety requirements
