The Bioinformatics team applies its expertise to support analysis, visualization and interpretation of genomic datasets. These datasets include next-generation sequencing data collected from patients. We work collaboratively with other functional teams across the company to support drug development programs in various disease areas.
The ideal candidate will have a background in quantitative or life sciences and have a strong interest in data analysis and iterpretation. Interns will work closely with an experienced bioinformatician on topics related to data visualization, integration and analysis. The internship will include specific projects related to data analysis and data visualization techniques. The intern will gain experience in the analysis of various types of biological data via the application of biological and computational expertise in combination with critical thinking skills to address relevant questions related to one or more of our core therapeutic areas. These therapeutic areas include oncology, HIV, respiratory, inflammation, and liver disease. At the conclusion of the internship program, interns will give a presentation summarizing their work.
Job Responsibilities may include the following tasks:
- A project to develop a data visualization tool using a web-based interface
- Data analysis using machine-learning techniques
- Writing analysis reports
- Intern must be at least 18 years old
- Enrolled in an accredited university/college
- Ability to complete 10-12 consecutive week internship
