The lab of Professor Xianhua Piao at the University of California, San Francisco is seeking dynamic, independent, and creative neuroscience postdoctoral researchers to join her team. You will work on the role of glial cells in brain homeostasis and diseases.

The Piao lab has pioneered the field of adhesion G protein-coupled receptor signaling in nervous system development. As a result, you will have the opportunity to build a diverse range of skill sets from working with cutting-edge technology and being a partner in the Piao lab’s extensive collaborative network of leading researchers within UCSF and at other prominent institutions.

Dr. Piao recently obtained two NIH grants on regulation of cellular interactions in human brain development (P01) and CNS development and regeneration (R01). Two new postdoctoral positions are created through these two five-year grants. Successful candidates will have the opportunities to work on either (1) microglia and astrocyte communications during brain homeostasis and neurodegeneration, using scRNA-Seq, organotypic culture, and transgenic mouse models; or (2) targeting GPCR and RhoA pathway in premyelinating oligodendrocytes during myelin formation and repair.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. or an equivalent degree in life science. Individuals with a strong background in bioinformatics and neuroscience are especially welcome. Applicants should send a brief description of their research interests and a curriculum vitae that includes contact information for two references to: Xianhua.piao@ucsf.edu.
