Tenure-track eligible faculty position

The ideal candidate for the position will be an investigator with an innovative and actively funded research program. As a faculty member, the successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain their own extramurally funded research support. Faculty members are also expected to contribute to the educational programs of the Department of Bioscience Research including training students in research.

Investigators seeking to build a vigorous research program working on fundamental questions in Stem Cell Therapy, Bioengineering, Biomaterials, Pathogen-Microbiome related to Oral Biology. Successful candidate will conduct research in one of the following areas, but not limited to:

1. Stem cell biology, tissue engineering, and bone/cartilage repair and regeneration,

 

2. Biomaterials/bioprinting/bio-manufacturing, computational/experimental biomechanics,

 

3. Bench-to-bedside translation of organoid technology in oral tissues or other organs.

4. Oral infectious disease research which include microbiome and epigenetic changes during inflammation.

Applicants are expected to be terminally credentialed (PhD, DDS, MD, DMD, or equivalent) from an accredited institution of higher education.  

Applicants should have a record of strong scholarly achievements and a demonstrated commitment to excellence in undergraduate and graduate education in the institution of higher education.

Successful candidate will be primarily expected to have, develop, sustain, and lead an extramurally funded program of fundamental and/or translational research in an area related to oral disease.

Rank will be commensurate with ability and experience.

An exemplary candidate will possess a strong record of research, teaching, and scholarship that warrants consideration for faculty status at the rank of Associate professor/Full Professor. To be considered at these senior levels, a candidate must have an actively funded research program in their area of expertise, a strong record of interdisciplinary collaborative research, and a demonstrated ability to contribute and to lead team science efforts.

Successful applicant will receive a substantial start-up package, state-of-the-art research space and will have access to numerous core facilities that provide advanced technologies. All candidates should have demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or a commitment to do so as a faculty member of the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry.
