The lab of Dr. Jared Kushner, supported by the NIH and the AHA, in the Division of Cardiology at the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral research scientist to lead a collaborative research project focused on understanding the regulation of calcium channels in the development and progression of cardiovascular disease.

The ideal candidate should have a Ph.D., or M.D. degree with a strong background in molecular biology and experience working with mice. Experience with rats, animal surgery, viral transduction, calcium and live-cell imaging, flow cytometry and analysis of large datasets (e.g. proteomics experience) is advantageous. Cellular electrophysiology experience is not required but welcome.

The successful applicant will lead a project studying changes in the regulation, trafficking, and function of channels using innovative techniques in transgenic rodent models of heart disease.  This project is expected to yield high-impact publications, significantly advancing the applicant’s career goals.

The Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center is located in upper Manhattan and was recently ranked 5th nationally among medical schools in NIH funding. The scientific environment at CUIMC is superb, with plentiful opportunities for multi-disciplinary collaborations with thought leaders and easy access multiple core facilities, offering top-of-the-line equipment and expertise.
