SUMMARY

The primary purpose of this Research Investigator position is to coordinate and manage a diverse mouse colony consisting on immune competent transgenics and immunocompromised NSG mice for xenografts. The investigator will perform experiments for their own projects as well as in collaboration with other lab members and collaborators outside the lab. Organization, meticulous data collection and scientific rigor are essential for this position.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Research Design and Implementation Must be 100% responsible for animal care, organization of the colonies, manipulation of the mice including tail vein/retro-orbital/intraperitoneal/subcutaneous injections, gavage treatments, tail vein bleeds, euthanasia and necropsy. Plan, revise and execute experiments designed to further the aims of the assigned research project. These experiments will require expertise in animal surgery, molecular biology, immunohistochemistry and immunology techniques.

Publications, Manuscripts and Presentations Analyze data from experiments in the preparation of publications to include abstracts for presentation at internal and external meetings and manuscripts for submission to scientific journals.

Supervision Train assigned personnel in scientific techniques, laboratory safety, equipment operation and maintenance. Personnel may include students, postdoctoral fellows and other classified research staff. Design and implement quality assura nce.

Required Education: Bachelor's degree in one of the natural sciences or related field.

Preferred Education: Master's Degree

Required Experience: Five years of experience in scientific or experimental research work. With preferred degree, three years of required experience.
