Role Summary

We are seeking a creative and driven senior candidate to lead development of RNA Therapeutic optimization platform in the BioMedicine Design (BMD) line of the Medicinal Sciences Organization. The candidate will capitalize on their experience with mRNA and self-replicating RNA to develop processes for optimization of RNA Therapeutics platform in the discovery space to support the RNA based therapy portfolio across Pfizer.

Role Responsibilities
  • Lead development of RNA therapeutics optimization platform.
  • Oversee and support different aspects of RNA production, transient expression and analysis.
  • Collaborate with groups across Pfizer to develop processes compatible with and capitalizing on existing internal knowledge/infrastructure.
  • Routinely generate top quality data packages and present at project meetings.
  • Propose experimental designs and work closely with cross-functional teams, project leads and senior group members on identifying/advancing best strategies and planning/executing deliverables.
  • Mentor and support junior staff and build a culture of support and collaboration.


Qualifications

Must-Have
  • PhD in Chemical/Biochemical/Biological Engineering or a related discipline with 2+ years of industry experience in the field of mRNA and self-replicating RNA engineering.
  • Significant experience with mammalian expression regulation and engineering.
  • Experience in cell culture, cell line maintenance, and various reporter assays (including flow cytometry).
  • Extensive experience with DNA and RNA manipulation (including recombinant DNA techniques, IVT, sequence analysis, DNA/RNA isolation, RT-qPCR/ddPCR, purification and analysis).
  • Experience with self-replicating RNA.
  • Curiosity and passion for research with strong interest in synthetic biology and gene therapy, creative and flexible thinking.
  • Ability to plan, organize, problem solve (troubleshoot), design experiments, work efficiently independently and in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral.


Nice-to-Have
  • Experience with high throughput DNA assembly and/or cell-based assays.
