In the coming years, the modality of molecules in GSKs pipeline combined with the likely accelerated nature of the approval pathways is potentiating a significant growth mode in the need for flexible resources, new technologies, varied capabilities and increased capacities that are not currently available within GSK's current internal infrastructure. This growth mode is bifunctional in nature spanning both small and large molecules as well as development and commercial operations.

To that end, GSK has established the Strategic External Development (SED) and Specialty External Manufacturing (SEM) organizations to harness the ambition. The intent of these organizations is to build and expand a platform of strategic external partnerships and external alliances that provide the necessary growth flexibility required to deliver GSK's building portfolio of products including Oncology, Immuno-inflammation, HBV and HIV.

The Strategic External Development (SED) team is an empowered, innovative and agile CMC development organization that will unlock the potential to rapidly deliver an increased number of transformative medicines to patients through exceptional relationships with trusted global partners.

The candidate will be responsible for building strong and trusted relationships works with GSK Strategic External partners and Alliance partners. This role is essential for ensuring that the relationships are managed, and risks escalated, across the governance framework including interactions with the senior leaders of the suppliers to ensure the relationships deliver value to GSK long-term.

The individual will provide effective management of a selected group of GSK's Alliance partners which requires a depth of technical knowledge and experience of pharmaceutical development and commercial supply along with a strong business and organizational understanding of contracting and legal aspects. Additionally, this individual will contribute to the management of various external partnerships to ensure performance against contracted services. Furthermore, this individual may also contribute to scientific due diligence activities. This role is essential for ensuring progression of activities executed by a selected group of Alliance Partners and the broader GSK portfolio. The successful candidate will ensure that the relationships are managed, and issues are appropriately escalated, across the governance framework including interactions with the senior leaders of the suppliers to ensure the relationships deliver value to GSK long-term.

  • Independently manage CMC relationships for assets with a selected group of GSK's Alliance Partners.

  • Manage GSK's interactions with selected strategic partners across CDMOs and other relevant externalization areas to deliver the E2E SED plan. Facilitates an effective and open communication platform to ensure GSK's alliance partners are supplied with the appropriate and timely support required to facilitate the program deliverables.

  • Manages the integration of defined CMC activities within the CMC teams, and overall partnership or program teams for the activities in scope of GSK's Alliance partners

  • Responsible for operationalizing the CMC strategy and to keep the team aligned for successful and timely accomplishment of agreed objectives.

  • Work with key stakeholders within the GSK organization to ensure the internal organization is educated and aware of critical efforts, timelines, risks and other key information in a timely manner.

  • Proactively build detailed CMC timelines with clarity to assumptions, risks and decision points for partnerships and programs in scope of GSK's Alliance Partners.

  • Through cross-functional leadership, defines CMC objectives, budgets, and resource plans for established program development strategies. Actively manages the CMC budget for alliance partnerships or programs through collaboration with consultants, contractors, partners, and internal associates.

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree

  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, which includes experience as a project manager and pharmaceutical functional area.



Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Master's degree and minimum 5 years of relevant experience.

  • Proven leadership and cross-functional management of CMC projects. Demonstrated leadership in more than one CMC specialty.

  • Extensive experience with partnership and/or vendor management.

  • Ability to translate complex concepts into actionable and measurable tasks.

  • Excellent people management skills with the ability to develop effective relationships, motivate others and influence in a cross-functional environment.

  • Exhibits high initiative, strong drive and follow-through.

  • Competency in MS Office, MS Project.

  • Requires flexible work schedule to accommodate program priorities and international activities.

  • Travel (some domestic and international) may be required.
