If so, this Cellular Immunology and In Vivo Sciences Expert Scientist role would be an ideal opportunity for you.

As a Cellular Immunology and In Vivo Sciences Expert Scientist, you will have in-depth knowledge of related scientific disciplines and advanced knowledge of cellular immunology principles and techniques, preclinical animal studies, vaccine-related innate and adaptive immune responses and mechanism of action of vaccines and immunotherapeutic candidates, t o provide expertise in vaccine development for GSK projects .

  • Provide expertise in the areas of immunology and in vivo preclinical animal studies for various GSK projects.
  • Perform immunological assays with a focus on cellular immunology assays such as characterization of vaccine specific T-cell and B-cell subsets and innate immune cells by intracellular cytokine staining (ICS) and multi-parametric flow cytometry (FACS), immune cell-based assays etc. as they apply to vaccine discovery/development.
  • Analyze complex high dimensional flowcytometry data using FlowJo, R program, Spice, Pestle etc. and use of GraphPad (Prism), SAS, Microsoft Office tools and other software. Proficiency in use of computational analysis tools for flowcytometry data is highly desirable.
  • Design and perform preclinical in vivo animal vaccine studies in mice, rats, non-human primates (NHP) and other animal models and analyze immune cells from various tissues. Interpret results and communicates to his/her supervisor and/or designs next logical step of experiments based on interpretation of results. Prior experience in working with CRO's is preferred.
  • Execute a range of experiments/technical studies/tasks independently based on protocol including animal vaccine studies, ICS, FACS, antibody and cytokine assays etc. to evaluate vaccine immunogenicity.
  • Prepares detailed oral or written summaries of results with interpretation for projects/programs. Independently writes specific technical sections of internal, external reports and publish in peer reviewed journals.
  • Provide effective and inspiring leadership with an enterprise mindset, ensuring support to professional development and qualification of staff members. Supervise students and junior lab personnel as needed.
  • Possesses strong scientific leadership to enable collaborations with key scientific internal and external stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
  • Degree in immunology, biology, life sciences, molecular biology, cell biology, biotechnology or other related discipline.
  • PhD with 2+ years, or MS with 5+ years, or BS with 10+ years of experience in cellular immunology, research and development, preferably including vaccine research in an industrial, academic or government laboratory setting.


Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
  • PhD degree with 3+ years postdoc training or working experience.
  • Prior experience in working with CRO's is preferred.
  • Strong track-record of scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals, with at least 3 first author research manuscripts.
