SUMMARY

The function of the Research Scientist position is to work in a multidisciplinary research pathology team, focused on scientific projects involving translational correlatives from ongoing clinical trials investigating genitourinary cancers. The research scientist will develop scientific projects, data management, data analysis and interpretation, as well as scientific communication of the findings. Expertise in histopathology and DNA/RNA extraction are required.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

Pathology Technicality

Assess and annotate pathology blocks/slides for tumor obtained biospecimen in conjunction with a pathologist. Assist in obtaining pathology blocks from outside institutions and maintain database regarding these specimens.

Data Management

1. Create scientific content for immunoprofiling and DNA/RNA analysis protocols involving human tissue specimens, and respond to contingencies, revisions, etc. as needed.

2. Assist the PI in data analysis, preparation of manuscripts and grant applications.

3. Assist the PI and other members of the research team in ordering, maintaining, and tracking research reagents and equipment.

Laboratory Research Coordination

Assist the PI and other members of the study team to coordinate laboratory research activities and daily lab research operation in conjunction with ongoing clinical studies.

Lab-Specific Technicality

Develop and perform scientific research projects on various tumor types. These projects focus on immunoprofiling, cancer genetics and epigenetics, and liquid biopsy techniques. Provide technical expertise in immunoprofiling studies and tissue/blood DNA/RNA analyses.

Clinical Biospecimen Processing

Collect, annotate, archive, and process biospecimen from ongoing clinical research studies. There will be a focus on blood collection and processing from venipuncture samples and DNA/RNA collection and processing from biopsy and surgery samples.

PhD in one of the natural sciences or related field or Medical degree With PhD, no experience required. With Medical degree, two years of experience in experimental or scientific work.
