Job Summary

The Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a full-time, academic year, tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Basic Medical Sciences. The successful candidate will be expected to establish and maintain an independent, energetic, well-funded research program to investigate physiological functions related to one of the following signature research areas within the Department: cancer; musculoskeletal biology and orthopedics; or neuroscience. The successful candidate will be expected to teach one or more modules of systemic physiology in veterinary professional and graduate programs, with emphasis on integrative, functional physiology of the whole animal. The successful candidate will also serve as a mentor and advisor to undergraduate, professional, and graduate students in research programs.

Education

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in a biological science and relevant post-doctoral experience. Preference will be given to individuals who also hold a D.V.M. (or equivalent) degree. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with a broad range of researchers in one or more entities on the Purdue campus. 

Experience

We are particularly interested in candidates who utilize pre-clinical and translational animal models of disease. The ideal applicant will be an investigator with exceptional promise of success in research, with a proven record of being able to attract extramural funding, and a demonstrated commitment to teaching the next generation of scientists and medical professionals.
