Post-Doctoral Position in Genetics

Multiple post-doctoral positions are available in the laboratory of Dr. Zach Adelman to lead the development of novel genetic technologies capable of influencing the transmission of engineered transgenes in insects such as the yellow fever mosquito Aedes aegypti and the red flour beetle Tribolium castaneum. These positions will be based in the Department of Entomology at Texas A&M University in College Station, TX. Starting salary will be commensurate with experience. Responsibilities include designing synthetic DNA constructs, obtaining and analyzing transgenic insect strains, scoring patterns of heredity and performing molecular analyses of integrated transgenes/gene expression. Qualifications: Ph.D. in Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Entomology or closely related field, with demonstrated research experience/training in molecular biology techniques. Experience in the genetics and manipulation of insects, gene expression analysis, as well as familiarity with the principles of biological containment are beneficial, but are not required.
