The candidate will server a critical role within HDO's in vitro bio-analytical technology team. His/her key responsibilities involve developing and executing mass spectrometry (LC-MS, GC-MS, HT-MS etc.) based assays to support various drug discovery needs, with primary focuses on medicinal/synthetic chemistry enablement applications. Other responsibilities include implementing and developing ultra-high throughput analytical/bio-analytical platforms for various chemical, pharmacological, and ADME screens. In addition, this role may also support in vitro bioanalytical support for ADME studies in support of small molecule drug discovery programs.

Responsibilities

The candidate will learn and deploy analytical MS methods to support daily medicinal/synthetic chemistry functions such as open access LC-MS & GC-MS, structural elucidation HR-MS characterization, and high throughput(HT)-MS reaction monitoring work. He or she will be serving as the primary point of contact for open access mass spec labs interacting with all Groton based synthetic chemists, and the primary researcher interfacing Applied Synthesis Technologies (AST) and Compound Management & Distribution CMD groups to develop high throughput analytical platforms. We prefer candidates with education background in chemistry or related majors, and for the minimum candidates should have hands-on experience with mass spectrometry. Industry experiences in instrumentation, automation, or structural elucidation would be favored for consideration. The successful candidate will demonstrate scientific proficiency from the bench, be a fast learner of new skills, can multitask and be excited to deliver in a rapid-paced, fluid environment.The successful candidate will be also expected to maintain up to date records as required by Pfizer policy and comply with all safety training and good laboratory practices.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:
  • Minimum qualification: BS or MS in Chemistry or Biochemistry.
  • Candidate with at least one-year relevant industry experience in analytical chemistry is highly preferred.


Technical Skills:
  • Must be highly motivated, organized, productive, detail- and team- oriented. The successful candidate will have a track record of effective delivery and teamwork working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good understanding of analytical mass spectrometry techniques especially LC/MS or GC/MS, and hands on experience with at least one kind of MS instruments is required
  • Experience with troubleshooting of analytical instruments will be a big plus, so does the experience in automation and liquid handling systems.
  • Experience with high-resolution MS, high throughput MS, or instrument automation is highly desired.
  • Candidates have first-hand experiences in the following areas would also be considered: synthetic chemistry, in vitro ADME, or high-throughput analysis.
  • Demonstrated scientific knowledge and skills to maintain high level of performance.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • A track record of effectively interacting with client groups to present data analysis is required.
  • The candidate must be able to prioritize his/her own work with minimum direction from supervisor.
  • The candidate will be required to demonstrate analytical scientific leadership by contribution to community of practice, and in mentoring junior colleagues/contractors to develop analytical skills.


PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
  • The candidate is expected to do routine lab work in analytical labs.
  • No repetitive heavy lifting would be involved, however the ability of moving 1 gallon reagent bottle comfortably is required.
