This particular role is in support of Programming process improvement activities. Candidates should be experienced Statistical Programmers with the additional skills needed to perform the responsibilities described below. This role does not involve actual study work, but requires a high degree of self-motivation/direction and attention to detail, as well as exceptional problem solving, spoken & written communication, multi-tasking and team collaboration skills.

Statistical programmers work collaboratively with internal colleagues and external vendors to ensure the efficient, high-quality production of analysis datasets and statistical outputs for study reports and integrated summaries in support of Gilead's regulatory, scientific and business objectives.

Statistical programmers work collaboratively with internal and external colleagues to ensure the efficient, high-quality production of programming procedural documents and training in support of Gilead's regulatory, scientific and business objectives.

Key Skills:
  • Provides consistency and quality assurance across various projects.
  • Generates and reviews complex process documentation (e.g., manuals & reference guides) and collaborates with authors and reviewers.
  • Independently identifies issues in the processes and documentation from previous experience and knowledge.
  • Collaborates with Biostatisticians, Clinical Data Management, and Programmers on projects to promote the development of efficient processes and high-quality deliverables.
  • Demonstrates the ability to act as a lead on a project.


Job Responsibilities:
  • Works collaboratively with Clinical Data Science staff to meet project deliverables and timelines for programming process improvement, training and quality support.
  • Assesses the quality and consistency of deliverables and performs cross-project analyses.
  • Tests and documents internal macros and other utilities, may write SAS macros to automate project deliverables.
  • Independently develops procedural documents and department communications.
  • Identifies potential issues in processes and documentation and proposes solutions.
  • Contributes to strategic process improvement activities and initiatives.
  • Assist with study and systems audits by GSI Compliance Group and external bodies, and support audit/inspection preparation & remediation.
  • Promote and communicate awareness of programming and the role of the Clinical Data Science department (internal/external; scientific/process).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Has thorough knowledge of clinical trial study processes and electronic data submission requirements.
  • Must be able to work independently on multiple concurrent projects.

Education and Experience
  • 7 years of experience and a BS degree in Biostatistics/Computer Science or equivalent.
  • 5 years of experience and a MS degree in Biostatistics/Computer Science or equivalent.
