The Molecular Biology and Systems Serology (MBSS) function at the GSK Slaoui Center for Vaccines Research, is responsible for the application of molecular biology and microbiology to identify antigen compositions, enabling of vector platforms for vaccine delivery, application of cell biology and systems serology to define vaccine potency and mechanism of action, and establishment of molecular biology technical capacity for vaccine development. Within MBSS the mission of the Laboratory of Molecular Analytics is to provide assay and analytical support to all vaccine projects in the US Research and Development Center, using advanced high-throughput technology and techniques.

We are looking for a highly motivated scientist, with proven 3D in vitro tissue modeling laboratory experience, to join our diverse preclinical research and development team working on RNA vaccines.

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following:
  • Design, develop, and implement protocols of 3D in vitro tissue models (organoids, organs on a chip, bio-printed tissues, etc.) of interest for vaccine research and development.
  • Conduct studies that provide understanding of the mechanism of action of mRNA vaccines, through expression of encoded antigens in relevant tissues.
  • Investigate innate and adaptive immunity elicited by vaccines in in vitro models.
  • Run wide range of experiments/technical studies/tasks, for evaluation of 3D models using different molecular and microscopy techniques.
  • Analyze, interpret and record experimental results and presents them in written/oral communications.
  • Work cross-functionally across GSK Vaccines and Pharma network to coordinate and execute studies by collaborating with scientists throughout the organization to support development of 3D models.
  • Cultivate extramural activities with collaborators from academic and research organizations
  • Develop and execute new methods and protocols and proactively incorporate new technology or techniques into practice with minimal supervision.
