ROLE SUMMARY
The Medicine Design group in Groton, CT is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled lipid or transporter biologist to help discover new insights into the function and specificity of solute carrier transporters (SLCs) with a focus on SLCs involved in lipid transport. This is a unique opportunity to participate in a public-private precompetitive partnership, where the primary objective of the RESOLUTE consortium (https://re-solute.eu/), is to create a comprehensive set of long-lasting, well- characterized tools and data packages for the SLC family to enable SLC research and knowledge. Pfizer's Postdoc program offers competitive salary and benefits, bonus eligibility, career and professional development training opportunities, industry experience, and the opportunity to publish and showcase new data externally.
Applicants should have experience working independently in a laboratory setting and a broad understanding of biology. Previous experience in 4 or more of the following is required: lipid metabolism, transporter biology, cell biology, plate-based pharmacology, biochemistry, enzymology, lipidomics, metabolomics and data analysis software. In addition to technical skills, a successful candidate should possess personal drive, innovation to address scientific hurdles and strong communication skills.

- Mammalian cell culture
- Development of competition assays using fluorescent probes
- Assessment of data quality
- Publication and presentation of findings
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- PhD in analytical or biological sciences
- Cell culture experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Plate-based assay development
- Cross-training of other scientists
- Exceptional communication skills (oral and written)
- Eager to learn
- Lipidomics or metabolomics data analysis
- Diligent notebook and record keeping
- Knowledge of enzyme kinetics
- Knowledge of solute carriers/transporters
- Experience with subcellular fractionation
