Res Post Doc Fellow-Genomics of Endocrine Traits

Job Summary

A Postdoctoral Fellow is needed to join a dynamic group of investigators interested in studying the functional consequences of signals that have come out of recent genome wide association studies (GWAS) of endocrine traits, including childhood obesity, bone mineral density and diabetes. The successful candidate will be dedicated and motivated, and a driver of her/his research. The postdoctoral fellow will be responsible of setting up disease models in human cell lines and iPSC-derived cells, characterize their trait-related phenotypes and manipulate candidate gene expression using CRISPR/Cas9 and/or siRNA or gene overexpression, with the goal of validating novel disease target genes. We are looking for a candidate with strong molecular biology skills (immunofluorescence, Western Blot, PCR, cloning) and prior experience in either endocrine cellular models or iPSC-derived cell biology. In addition, experience in CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing and next-generation sequencing based techniques (RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq) would be a plus.

Job responsibilities include:

1. To lead specific projects agreed upon with the P.I.

2. Perform calculations and maintain appropriate log books and lab notebooks.

3. Analyze and interpret resulting data.

4. Submit findings in peer-review journals and present at national and international meetings.

Preferred aplicant will have:

A terminal degree PhD, MD, DVM with a major in biology, chemistry, biochemistry or related field preferred. Excellent communication, organizational and molecular biology skills are a must, together with previous experience either in cellular models relevant to endocrinology or iPSC-derived cells. Hands-on experience with CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing and next-generation sequencing based techniques (such as RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq) would be a plus

Interested individuals should submit their resume to www.stokes.chop.edu or Struan Grant, Ph.D., Abramson Research Center, The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Room 1216F, 3615 Civic Center Blvd., Philadelphia, PA 19104, grants@chop.edu
