We are seeking highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to study pathogenic mechanisms of Alzheimer's and Parkinson’s diseases and to develop novel therapies in the laboratory of Prof. Jie Shen at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital (www.shenlab.net). We employ mouse and Drosophila genetic approaches to elucidate functions of gene products involved in Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases in relevant neural circuits and identify molecular pathways regulated by the disease genes. We also use cell culture, biochemical, imaging and viral approaches to investigate molecular and cellular mechanisms. Some of the representative publications include Nature 460:632-6, J Neurosci 32:5085-5096, PNAS 106:14622-7, PNAS 107:9879-84, PNAS 110:15091-6, PNAS 111:8973-8, Neuron 85: 967-81, J Neurosci 34: 15912-22, Neuron 90: 417-422, Genetics 206: 1479-93, Neuron 96:796-807, Mol Neurodegener 15, 72, and Neuron 108:676-90.
Recent PhDs with strong expertise in the following areas 1) molecular biology and mouse genetics; 2) fly genetics; 3) slice electrophysiology; or 5) mitochondrial analysis are encouraged to send CVs to Dr. Jie Shen at email@example.com. Successful candidates should be dedicated scientists who enjoy working independently and collaboratively, and are motivated by their desire to better understand disease mechanisms and bring effective therapies to patients.
