Role Summary

Pfizer is seeking a qualified scientist for an Associate Scientist position contributing to ADME (absorption, disposition, metabolism and excretion) sciences in the in vitro enzymology and preclinical pharmacokinetics (PK) group.

The individual will be joining a dynamic group in ADME Sciences Enzymology, Department of Medicine Design, in support of the global Pfizer small molecule research and development portfolio. The position will be responsible for designing and/or conducting ADME enzymology and PK studies in drug discovery and development. The individual will have the unique opportunity to work with project representatives and influence the selection of candidate molecules for drug development.

The scientist will work closely with his/her supervisor to conduct in vitro enzyme kinetic or inhibition studies, enzyme phenotyping, drug metabolism studies, coordinate PK submissions, generate research reports suitable for regulatory submission, and conduct and ensure data quality control (QC). These duties also require the authoring of scientific documents for internal study reports, contributing to external publications, and for reports in support of regulatory submissions.

Role Responsibilities
  • The scientist is expected to conduct in vitro enzymology or ADME experiments and coordinate in vivo pharmacokinetic studies with the coaching and supervision of his/her supervisor or colleagues.
  • The scientist is responsible for generating high quality data in a timely manner, reviewing and uploading data into databases, writing reports, and data QC.
  • The role also involves close collaborations with other scientists in the ADME Sciences group to enable drug discovery or development portfolio support, trouble-shooting, and technology improvement or development.
  • The scientist must be an agile learner and become proficient in utilizing internal software for data management as the recording of data via computer systems is critical and mandatory to adhering to laboratory standard operating procedures.


Basic Qualifications
  • BS/MS degree in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, biomedical, pharmaceutical sciences or related field.
  • Effective verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated laboratory experience.
  • ADME/DMPK knowledge, cell culture experience or LC-MS operational experience is useful.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite of tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).


Physical Position Requirements
  • The position will require the scientist to work in the laboratory, including standing, walking, sitting, and lifting solvents.
  • Some travel (a few times per year) may be required to other Pfizer sites or to attend and present at scientific conferences.
