The primary purpose of the Assistant is to develop, implement and validate novel clinical data processing techniques for cancer research and applications. The candidate is expected to have a track record in database management for machine learning model development and analysis. The candidate will be expected to work in a highly interdisciplinary research environment with scientists and clinicians throughout MDACC and from partner institutions. The successful candidate should have a good understanding in data organization and software programming, with proficiency in Matlab, python, or R

Conducts computational research experiments and projects Conducts numerical research experiments and projects in scientific fields independently or with minimal oversight of faculty and/or research staff. Plan, organize, coordinate and participate in existing and new scientific research projects. Determine specific goals and objectives to be obtained

Computer programing To help with clinical and preclinical research projects including developing, implementing, and evaluating imaging data acquisition, reconstruction and visualization techniques.

Data gathering and analysis Relational database queries to organize data. Demonstrate a proactive role in reviewing new technical developments related to clinical and preclinical imaging, and to propose new or alternative ways in accomplishing the goals of developing projects. evaluate research data and develop and revise techniques or approaches to work problems. Participate in writing progress reports to the sponsoring agencies, preparation of manuscripts for publication in journals, and at scientific meetings, and assist with the preparation of research grant proposals

Numerical analysis methods Design and implementation of novel machine learning algorithms.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Education:Bachelor's degree with major course works in one of the basic sciences.

Preferred Education: Master's Degree

Required Experience:Two years experience in scientific or experimental research work. No experience required with preferred degree.

Preferred Experience:Proficient and skilled in Matlab, C, C++, MySQL, python, or R and in computer platforms such as Unix and Windows
