The primary purpose of a Senior Research Assistant is to provide technical and coordination skills in carrying out various research projects. Coordinates and conducts experiments and carries out research projects in varied areas of chemistry, biology, physics and other biomedical, dental or related basic science areas. Constructs, assembles and operates laboratory apparatus and equipment. Reads literature and confers with superiors regarding new procedures and modifies them according to the needs of the project. Records and evaluates data obtained in accordance with methods requested.

KEY FUNCTIONS
1. Collecting, processing, storing, and recording human tissue biomarkers including but not limited to blood, tumor tissue, and urine.
2. Interaction with clinical study and other clinic staff to coordinate biomarker pickup and storage.
3. Conducts experiments and carries out research projects in varied areas of chemistry, biology, physics and other biomedical, dental or related scientific fields.
4. Constructs, assembles and operates laboratory apparatus and equipment.
5. Records and evaluates data in accordance with methods requested.
6. Maintains accurate and timely records to include notebooks, records, databases, etc. as needed by the research project.
7. Monitor laboratory and/or other supplies to ensure sufficient inventory to support research projects. Ensures quality of reagents or other supplies.
8. Maintain an excellent working knowledge of all basic laboratory equipment and apparatus.
9. Read scientific literature to keep current with new research techniques and confers with supervisor regarding new procedures.
10. Help in maintenance of general Lab equipment and prepare common laboratory stock chemicals
11. Update lab inventories and order lab supplies.
12. Other duties as assigned.

Education
Required
: Bachelor's degree in one of the natural sciences or related field.

Experience
Required
: Three years of experience in scientific or experimental research work. With preferred degree, one year of required experience.

Preferred: Experience with laboratory animals. Must be willing to work with mice and rats.
