With your deep knowledge of the discipline, you will regularly contribute at the therapeutic area level and can represent the department on multidisciplinary teams.

The qualified colleague is responsible for developing, troubleshooting, and utilizing analytical methodologies to support process development of gene medicines, including viral vectors, plasmids, and residual impurities. The individual is expected to be proficient in a breadth of analytical methodologies such as HPLC, electrophoresis, and related bioanalytical techniques , and to lead a group of scientists in these activities. The colleague must be able to interact effectively with peers and leaders as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The candidate must thrive in a fast-paced matrix-environment. Attention to detail, strong organizational and leadership skills, the ability to multitask, and effective interpersonal and communication skills are required. Documentation of analytical results in regulated systems and technical reports is required.

How You Will Achieve It
  • Contribute at the therapeutic area level and may represent the group on multidisciplinary teams.
  • Influence at the therapeutic area or discipline level and increasingly at the project team level.
  • Participate in strategic planning in building out the capabilities and processes.
  • Prepare presentations to technical and non-technical associates alike for the purpose of updating experimental progress and persuading project direction.
  • Lead technical team to execute strategy and obtain relevant high quality data.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key partner lines and colleagues and increase Pfizer's external reputation.
  • Participate in deep dive reviews of complex data with credible insights and flexible mindset.
  • Manage the performance and development of a team of scientists that develop analytical methods to characterize gene therapy therapeutics and collaborate with process and formulation development scientists.


  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 12+ years of experience
  • Proven record of strong technical skills and scientific expertise in analytical method development and troubleshooting in the area of biotherapeutics or vaccines.
  • Experience leading scientists to achieve project and technical goals.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment.
  • Experience with technologies focused on analysis of biomolecules and conjugates.
  • Understanding of critical quality attributes of complex biomolecules.
  • Exemplary people skills and demonstrable leadership behaviors.
  • Demonstrated technical writing and presentation skills.

  • PhD and 4+ years of relevant experience.
  • Direct experience working with Food and Drug Administration or other regulatory authorities.
  • Skills and experience in analytical methods related to gene therapy viral vectors.
  • Skills and knowledge in multiple analytical methodologies, method development and validation, and regulatory requirements for biotherapeutics.

  • Position requires occasional light lifting and periods of standing, sitting or walking.

  • Occasional travel for project support and scientific conferences is expected.
