Postdoctoral research position has become available in the research laboratory of Dr. Hsian-Rong Tseng located in the California NanoSystems Institute (https://cnsi.ucla.edu/) on the UCLA campus. We are looking for highly motivated individuals to be part of an interdisciplinary research team associated with the California NanoSystems Institute and Department of Molecular & Medical Pharmacology, David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA to work on the development of nanoparticle vectors for clinical applications including vaccines and genome editing. To learn more about our research, please visit https://uclaliquidbiopsy.org.
With stable funding support including industry-sponsored projects and National Cancer Institute grants, Dr. Tseng’s research team has assembled a group of chemists, engineers, physicians from UCLA and Cedars Sinai Medical Center, as well as industrial partners from Sorrento Therapeutics (NASDAQ: SRNE) and Pulsar Therapeutics to leverage advances in both nanotechnology and microfabrication to create novel nonviral vectors. These nonviral vectors are expected to achieve highly effective vaccination and enable CRISPR-Cas9-mediated genome editing to treat genetic diseases, e.g., X-Linked Retinoschisis (XLRS) and hemophilia.
The ideal candidates should have a Ph.D. degree in organic/polymer chemistry, bioengineering, or materials science. Previous experience with nanoparticle vectors, bioconjugation, controlled release, gene therapy and/or drug delivery is highly desirable.
Available immediately. Interested candidates should submit a brief cover letter and curriculum vitae to Dr. Hsian Rong-Tseng at hrtseng@mednet.ucla.edu.
