Senior Financial Analyst I

Specific Job Responsibilities

 

 

  • Develops and maintains the PDM Finance Edmonton group processes, systems and policies.
  • Participate in PDM Finance projects along with team members
  • Be accountable for supporting delivery of key site processes and responsible for monitoring ongoing progress to ensure the site is on track to deliver its commitments to the business.
  • Participate in the implementation of policy and continuous process improvements
  • Ensure the adherence and implementation of SOX controls and processes
  • Perform ad-hoc business analysis and preparation of materials in support customer requests
  • Compile and deliver accurate and timely management reporting
  • Conducts comprehensive financial analyses when required to support business decisions
  • Provide direction, policy guidance and issue resolution to business partners as needed
  • Interacts and collaborates effectively within workgroup and area of expertise; participates effectively on cross-functional teams; offers views and actively solicits ideas from others in seeking sound business solutions; encourages others in fostering effective teamwork; demonstrates very strong customer service orientation
  • Responsible for monitoring inventory transactions within Oracle, to ensure they are done on a timely manner and in accordance with the policy and procedures.
  • Reconcile inventory balance on a regular basis.
  • Development & implementation of internal financial & operational controls.
  • Assist in preparation of annual budget process and periodic LE cycles.
  • Evaluating cost reduction initiatives.
  • Variance and PPV analysis, amortization and reporting.
  • Responsible for producing statutory reports or reports for regulatory authorities as required.

  • Participate in the accounting close and financial reporting process.
  • Prepares accounting transactions and account reconciliations, providing relevant fiscal information to managers.
  • Ensures financial compliance with the worldwide Controller's manual and to all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Helps develop operational specifications for financial systems, supports various divisions, units, and functions for financial reporting.
  • Helps develop, maintain and assess internal controls related to Gilead's accounting and financial reporting systems.
  • Provides technical and analytical support to upper management.
  • Interacts successfully with non-financial personnel as well by providing timely and accurate data and communication.

  • In depth knowledge of local statutory and tax reporting requirements.
  • Strong proficiency in all aspects of accounting as well as project management.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with project reporting, operational accounting and reporting is required.
  • Demonstrated success working in a deadline driven and multi-task environment.

 


Required Education & Experience

 

 

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting with a minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience in Finance.
  • A CPA or equivalent (or enrollment in program).
  • Held positions in Finance with increasing scope and responsibility.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP's (SAP preferred).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word).

 


Preferred Education & Experience

 

 

  • Experience in manufacturing environment and cost accounting is a distinct advantage.
  • Experience in biotech or pharmaceuticals industry.
  • Experience in multi-national organization.
