Postdoctoral Researcher or Junior Faculty Position
MECHANISM OF ACTION & THERAPEUTIC PROPERTIES OF MSC EXTRACELLULAR VESICLES
We are seeking motivated individuals to join our Newborn Regenerative Medicine Program at Boston Children’s Hospital. We study mechanisms of perinatal injury and investigate extracellular vesicles/exosomes (EVs) produced by mesenchymal stem/stromal cells (MSCs) as novel therapeutic agents to treat lung disease and other perinatal pathologies.
MSC EXTRACELLULAR VESICLES AS THERAPEUTIC VECTORS: We examine molecular, cellular, and epigenetic pathways of innate and adaptive immunity in response to injury signals associated with abnormal oxygen tension (hypoxia and hyperoxia) and how MSC EVs modulate these responses, protecting from, or reversing pathology. Ongoing projects include the molecular characterization of exosomal composition & delivery of purified exosomes to pre-clinical models of lung disease and other perinatal pathologies, including bronchopulmonary dysplasia, pulmonary hypertension, cardiovascular, and neurologic injury, among others.
PhD, MD or equivalent degree, and a strong background in molecular biology and/or immunology is required. Previous research experience in epigenetics, extracellular vesicles, stem cells, lung biology or animal models of disease is highly desirable and will complement current research directions.
