Cancer Center Faculty Position

The NCI-designated Cancer Center at the Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute is dedicated to recruiting the most brilliant cancer research scientists. We are currently seeking a faculty member who is conducting impactful studies of the highest caliber and who is engaged in setting up new paradigms that can be evaluated clinically. Areas of particular interest include (but not limited to) immune-oncology, tumor dormancy and microenvironment, tumor metabolism, bioinformatics/system/computational biology, and cancer drug discovery.

By design, our Center provides a dynamic setting to support and stimulate science. Administration and staff are committed to meeting the needs of our scientists and eliminating distractions. There are no mandatory teaching or administrative responsibilities, and no departments or hierarchical restrictions, thereby allowing our scientists to focus on their research. In addition, collaborative and energetic colleagues provide a comprehensive support system.

Cancer Center faculty are expected to secure support from diverse funding sources to establish rigorous and competitive research programs addressing unmet clinical needs. Faculty also have the opportunity to collaborate with one another on common research interests and to explore development of translational projects with our Prebys Center, the Institute’s comprehensive center for drug discovery and chemical biology.

Required Experience

Requires a PhD or MD/PhD with outstanding training and research experience. Candidates are expected to have an impressive publication record and exceptional research accomplishments. Proven ability to secure funding is a plus. Candidates at all faculty ranks are invited to apply.
