What You Will Achieve

As part of the Comparative Medicine team, you will learn to provide operational support in a diverse, cross-functional a group of more than 30 members. Under supervision of the Associate Director of Operations, you will triage, troubleshoot, and coordinate activities such as animal husbandry tasks, research technical support, and staff mentoring. You will also provide direct technical support to Research and Development partners by delivering completed projects, experiments, procedures, and studies involving animal models.

How You Will Achieve It
  • Support research teams by performing technical procedures in the conduct of experiments and protocols and by collecting, recording, and exporting data in the delivery of in-vivo studies.
  • Interact with key in-vivo contacts to understand their needs, engaging people in a flexible and constructive manner.
  • Assist with the scheduling and approving of requests for research technical support.
  • Study oversight - manage day to day operations of assigned research studies conducted within the department.
  • Achieve study objectives and ensure team effectiveness, including defining best practices and developing process advancements.
  • Perform quality control of studies ensuring accuracy and completion of tasks.
  • Set a workplace standard through leading by example, showing mastery of all SOP's, regulatory guidelines and Pfizer policies.
  • Exemplify work-place standards, positive habits, and engaging behaviors toward co-workers.
  • Train and mentor colleagues on the efficient and refined conduct of technical procedures and husbandry services.
  • Contribute to operational excellence - collect metrics showing efficient delivery of technical procedures and husbandry services.
  • Assists in the operational functions of the vivarium, including providing back up/weekend support as well as serving as a contact for supply receiving, inventory, and stocking.
  • Maintains appropriate records in compliance with regulatory and departmental standards, this may include maintaining animal study related records.


May be required to work under one of the following: The United States Department of Agriculture Animal Welfare Act and associated Regulations and Standards, the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, Good Laboratory Practices, Public Health Service Policy and/or AAALAC accreditation standards.

Qualifications

Must-Have (required)
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 1-2 years of experience with in vivo studies
  • Ability to demonstrate level of technical skills and abilities


Nice-to-Have (preferred)
  • BA/BS degree
  • AALAS certification
  • Experience working in a pharmaceutical setting

This is an Essential Personnel role:

Essential Personnel are defined as the staff that are required to report to their designated work location, to ensure the operation of essential functions or departments during an emergency, as determined by Pfizer, or when the business has suspended operations. There are some individuals who may be required to perform essential services remotely and those individuals will be identified in advance and notified by their supervisors, but in most cases Essential Personnel are required to be on-site during an emergency or suspension of operations.
