The successful candidate is interested in delivering imaging biomarkers to support drug discovery and development efforts. The primary goal of this position will be to further develop the nuclear imaging capabilities internally and externally (working with academic institutions, CRO's). This work will be used to better inform drug discovery teams regarding optimal molecule and dose selection. Additionally, this work will help reduce attrition in the clinic by providing whole body biodistribution profiles of molecules and target engagement within organs and understand safety concerns leading up to first time in human studies. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a diverse group of biologists and pharmacologists as well as with an experienced team of imaging scientists at GSK. There will be opportunity to learn and employ additional non-invasive imaging modalities to address the needs of the drug discovery programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform in vivo imaging studies (study design, protocol, data acquisition, and image analysis) to support the needs of Discovery Research and business partners ranging from drug design through safety evaluation to product/device development.
  • Develop radiochemistry methods for the preparation of radiolabeled large molecules.
  • Develop and execute analytical methods for the characterization of radiolabeled compounds, using techniques such as radio-TLC and radio-HPLC, LC-MS, etc.
  • Responsible for study support and data generation/management and communication to project/program teams.
  • Responsible for managing in-vivo imaging studies performed with external collaborators (academic centers, and CROs).
  • Ensure radiation safety during nuclear imaging studies.
  • Responsible for animal care and use protocol writing and oversight of the animal imaging protocols.
