What You Will Achieve

This is a laboratory-based position within Vaccine Research and Development - Analytical Development group. The candidate is expected to lead analytical development strategy for new adjuvants and independently develop robust analytical assays for early phase vaccine programs. In addition, the candidate will be expected to provide technical guidance to colleagues in a matrix environment for development of analytical assays for adjuvants, and support analysis of animal study materials by performing sample testing.

How You Will Achieve It

  • Identify key quality attributes for new adjuvant candidates such as liposomes and nanoparticles and develop analytical assay strategies.
  • Independently develop analytical assays and provide technical guidance to others in developing adjuvant assays.
  • The candidate should be familiar with the ICH guidelines for method qualification and would be expected to design, plan, and execute assay development, qualification and transfer studies with a high degree of independence.
  • Establish and utilize new technologies, where required, to enhance our characterization toolbox and understanding about the adjuvants being developed.
  • The individual will perform sample analysis support for adjuvant development, animal studies and final vaccine candidates.
  • Plan and prioritize own work to ensure timelines are met.
  • Author and review laboratory methods and reports.
  • The individual is expected to contribute and participate in general laboratory maintenance activities (such as maintenance of equipment, managing laboratory waste.


Qualifications

Must-Have

  • PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related discipline with at least 6 years of academic, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology experience or an MS plus 10 years of related work experience is required.
  • A strong ability to develop analytical assay strategies is a must.
  • Proven experience in developments of analytical assays for liposomes, nanoparticles and adjuvants.
  • Proficiency and ability to utilize analytical techniques for characterization of liposomal and nanoparticle adjuvants is strongly preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication as well as excellent documentation skills are required.
  • Standard laboratory conditions - sitting, standing, primarily lab based
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations and ability to perform complex data analysis
