Summary

Seeking a talented individual to join the Computational Chemistry team of Internal Medicine/Discovery Network Chemistry. The candidate is expected to deploy computational techniques to impact project progression and develop or improve computational chemistry methods to achieve such goals. A strong understanding of fundamental physical chemistry theory, knowledge in data modeling is required. Familiarity with one or more modeling software packages is a plus

Responsibility

The position involves the application of a wide variety of computational approaches, including hit identification, lead optimization, structure-based drug design, ligand-based design, pharmacophore modeling, HTS analyses, QSAR and in silico modeling of ADME/Tox, to build hypotheses and influence design small molecule drug candidates. The candidate is expected to develop novel computational approaches and workflows to solve specific problems in drug discovery.

Technical Skill Requirements
  • Knowledge in one or more areas of the computational chemistry discipline, such as molecular dynamics and structure-based design. Knowledge in ligand-based design, quantum mechanics, QSAR, homology modeling and/or pharmacophore modeling is a plus.
  • Demonstrated problem solving abilities in a collaborative team environment is required.
  • Solid knowledge of Linux environment and practical experience in one or more programming environment such as Shells, Python, R, or Jupyter, etc.
  • Experience in at least one modeling software tool/package (i.e. Schrödinger, MOE, etc.) is a plus
  • Knowledge of a target family of therapeutic interest, such as GPCRs, Kinases or Ion Channels, and/or other areas such as Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmacokinetics & Pharmacodynamics, Drug Safety, Chemical Biology, Computational Biology, and Bioinformatics is a plus.
  • Background in statistics and deep/machine learning techniques is a plus.


Education and Experience
  • Ph. D. in computational chemistry or relevant discipline and 2-4 years of postdoc experience.
  • Industrial experience as a computational chemist is a plus.
