The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, School of Medicine, LSU Health Sciences Center is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to work on an NIH-funded project on the relationship between oral contraception use and coagulopathy. Incumbent will work in the laboratory of Dr. Rinku Majumder.
Position Summary:
This laboratory studies the role of Protein S, which is an essential natural anticoagulant. Specifically, our lab will use a genetically modified mouse model to investigate how obesity and oral contraception synergistically contribute to increased risk of blood clots. The applicant should have good knowledge of protein purification, mass spectrophotometry, and commonly used procedures in molecular biology research. At a minimum, these techniques should include PCR, qPCR, Western blotting, ELISA, cloning, and cell culture.
• PhD in Basic or Health Science or related field
Preferred- Experience with clotting assays.
