This is a senior research position in a tissue engineering lab in the Department of Surgery. The project focuses on the ex vivo culture of primary human adipose tissues (subcutaneous, breast, and adipose tumors) using a breakthrough technique developed in this lab. Predominant experimental approaches include adult mesenchymal stem cell isolation from surgical specimens, seeding of microscale advanced cell culture substrates, precision transfer of cell sheets, characterization of 3D oncologic microphysiologic systems, and molecular & histopathologic characterization and real-time microscopic imaging of the final constructs. The ability to interface with several collaborating labs is required.
