A motivated Postdoctoral fellow in the area of computational biology is sought for a position in the Division of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology (CBBI) in the Greehey Children’s Cancer Research Institute. The focus of research is to develop and apply deep learning algorithms that effectively model drug response process by integrating multiple types of big genomic data from diverse experiments. Our goal is to then put these algorithms to biologists and clinicians to disseminate the novel methods to the area of precision medicine.

  • Postdocs will contribute to the development of new analytical methods and/or the application of deep learning methods to large collection of public-domain genomic datasets, and to extract testable biological hypotheses from these large collections;
  • Postdocs will contribute to the lab's culture of open scientific discovery and to share methodological advances and biological discoveries at both national and international venues; and
  • Research projects center around new computational methods to integrate genomic data as well as to incorporate additional phenotypic information with these genomic data to transfer to pediatric cancer research.

The successful candidate is expected to have an MD, PhD, or equivalent, with a strong background in computer science, machine learning, statistics, genomics, bioinformatics, or closely related field and programming experience with attributable contributions to source code. The candidate is also expected to have a track record of scientific productivity and leadership and will strive for robust and reproducible analytical workflows. The experience handling large datasets in a UNIX/LINUX environment, experience with high performance cluster or cloud computing, and a knowledge of existing software packages used for machine learning are highly desired.

Interested individuals should apply with a letter of interest, curriculum vitae and three reference letters to Dr. Chen at .
