Molecular Laboratory Coordinator

Role Summary

This is a laboratory-associated position within the Vaccine Research and Development - Clinical and Diagnostic Assay Development. The primary responsibility is to support diagnostic assays used for multiple vaccine studies. The successful candidate is an experienced writer and a highly organized and motivated individual who will support and assist colleagues through technical document writing, editing, proofreading, and tracking; inventory management, and project scheduling. Daily duties will also include general laboratory support (reagent preparation, reagent stocking, and ordering supplies). Incumbent will be willing to learn new techniques, be a self-starter and work semi-independently in a fast-paced multidisciplinary team environment.

Role Responsibilities
  • Writing project reports, data summaries, deviation reports, preparing information summaries, gathering background information, reading scientific literature, creating graphs, PowerPoint slides, and tables.
  • Tracking inventory and maintaining up to date and compliant records of reagents and lab consumables.
  • Forecasting appropriate stock levels of reagents for projected workloads and ensuring compliance with expiration dates.
  • Maintaining relationships with vendors to facilitate purchase of equipment, supplies, and lab consumables.
  • Maintenance of laboratory specimen database.
  • Supports colleagues in the laboratory by performing routine laboratory duties that can include preparation and stocking of reagents, ordering supplies, and scheduling maintenance.
  • Develops and follows standard operating procedures.
  • Demonstrates ability to multitask project objectives, understands goals and their priorities, and demonstrates problem solving skills.
  • Interprets and summarizes experimental data. Participates in the evaluation of new methods or technologies.
  • Documents research findings in reports or presentations as well as electronic notebook.
  • Works efficiently as part of a team in a matrixenvironment.


Basic Qualifications
  • BS or BA degree with at least 3 years' experience working in a logistics, administrative, coordinator, or related role.
  • Ability to multitask project objectives, understand goals and their priorities as well as demonstrate problem solving skills in the planning and execution of projects.
  • Understanding of general molecular biology techniques.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent organization and planning skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong motivation, work ethics and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and relevant scientific software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.


PreferredQualifications
  • Previous laboratory experience.
  • Experience with DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, or laboratory automation.
