The Scientific Director Shingrix is the US Medical Affairs team member accountable for contribute in the medical strategy of a key asset and achievement of the medical objectives This role contributes to the overall success of the asset and ensuring patients benefit from our scientific advancements.

This position contributes in ensuring alignment with US Commercial, Vaccines Global Medical, and the overall US Medical matrix. Position will contribute, directly and indirectly, in Medical Matrix Team (MMT) responsible for executing multiple US Medical Affairs Strategic and tactical plans.

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to contribute in key activities to progress YOUR career, these responsibilities include some of the following:

Design training and program content that educates and shapes awareness of our vaccines.

Lead appropriate medical engagement between GSK and external stake holders to advance scientific and medical understanding including the appropriate development and use of our vaccines, the management of disease, and patient care.

Coordinate with the US MSL/HOL, Policy and Payor teams to ensure alignment and effective engagement with top US based EEs, Policy and Payer decision makers.

Work in conjunction with the US Health Outcomes team to contribute to the generation planning local evidence.

Apply sound medical governance for all activities and is accountable for medical governance oversight and sign off for all asset indications.

Lead the early strategic analysis, innovative design and execution of medicine readiness program across the various roles and levels in the US Medical Affairs (USMA) organization to ensure demonstration of deep medical expertise.

Continuously evaluate the medicine readiness needs across USMA.

Participate in the diagnosis, design and execution of special transformative initiatives across USMA.

Basic Q ualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
  • MD, PhD, PharmD or master's degree in science related field.
  • Experience in Infectious Diseases (Adult or Pediatrics) or Immunology and/or Vaccinology.
  • 2 plus years Pharmaceutical Industry experience.
  • Experience in Medical Affairs, on an Asset/Brand team with launch experience.
  • 2 plus years of experience in effective team and matrix collaboration.

  • Excellent strategic thinking and leadership skills.
  • Strong business acumen and experience building investment cases.
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written), including the ability to identify and articulate the value of clinical and heath outcome data to internal stakeholders and external customers.
  • Knowledge of the US healthcare environment including disease-specific research priorities, public health need, competitor landscape, clinical practice trends and guidelines evolution.
  • Excellent communications and leadership skills with a demonstrated ability in building collaborative relationships - ability to work effectively with others, delegate appropriately and foster a culture of collaboration.
