Post-Doctoral Fellow - Cancer Biology/Immunology
The Gulhati lab (https://www.cinj.org/research/gulhati-laboratory) has recently received award funding and has urgent requirement for two fully-funded postdoctoral fellow positions available for highly motivated candidates. The lab takes an integrated approach employing a diverse array of experimental models and cutting-edge techniques to conduct mechanistic and translational studies in pancreatic cancer and other gastrointestinal cancers.
Current projects in the lab focus on: i) signaling pathways downstream of KRAS that mediate cross-talk between pancreatic cancer cells and the stromal microenvironment including immune cells and fibroblasts; ii) the immunosuppressive microenvironment in pancreatic tumors and identification of novel therapeutic targets to increase efficacy of immune checkpoint therapy and chemotherapy; iii) identification and functional validation of novel genes and pathways driving initiation, metastasis and therapeutic resistance of gastrointestinal cancers. Our overarching goal is to identify new vulnerabilities and novel treatments that can be translated to the clinic.
The postdoctoral fellow will gain research experience in the areas of cellular and molecular biology, tumor microenvironment and immunology, mouse models of cancer and translational research using human biospecimens. Research findings will be published in high impact journals, along with opportunities to present work at national and international meetings.
The position requires a Ph.D. in the biological sciences (immunology, cell or molecular biology, cancer biology or related discipline) or MD along with strong background in cellular and molecular biology techniques. Experience with mouse experiments and multiplex flow cytometry, single-cell RNA sequencing, tumor immunology techniques would be an advantage. Candidates should be capable of working independently and have excellent communication and writing skills. Candidates will work in an inter-disciplinary, productive and highly collaborative environment and interact with basic scientists, computational biologists, translational researchers and clinicians as part of a NCI designated cancer center.
Anticipated start date is ASAP. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
