Senior Lecturer (Maître d'enseignement et de recherche type 1)

Head of the Lausanne Flow cytometry Facility (FCF)

 

Starting date: to be agreed                              

Contract length: 6 years, renewable

Rate of activity: 100%                                     

Workplace: Lausanne Epalinges, Biopôle 3

 

Job description:

The Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne experiences a substantial demand for flow cytometry analysis and cell sorting. To meet this demand, the Faculty has set up a large core facility, which provides instrumentation, technology, and advanced expertise. The FCF offers top of the range instruments for analysis performed by the users, training on our instruments and cell sorting services implemented by the facility staff.

The leader of the core facility will supervise the work in the laboratory, manage the FCF team, organize the collaborations with the users and the priorities for the use of services, and assess data. She/he will also evaluate, in collaboration with researchers, new methods and technologies that should be implemented to maintain the competitiveness of the FCF.

In parallel to her/his core facility duties, the successful candidate will lecture at the bachelor and master levels and organize practical work (exercises) in flow cytometry technology approaches and experimental design. 

Desired profile:

  • PhD in natural or medical sciences and a strong track record in research using flow cytometry.
  • Experience in leading and motivating a team and in collaborating with researchers.
  • Have a vision of the future of a technological core facility.
  • Experience in teaching and in the organization of courses on flow cytometry will be an advantage.
